There's an interesting article on today's WebMD that's linked below. It summarizes a couple of studies on antioxidants, linking excessive amounts of them to Type 2 diabetes and obesity. According to the study's principal researcher: "If you have too much of an antioxidant, it can interfere in the body's signaling system...it quenches the free radicals needed to send signals from cell to cell." You can read the full article here: dailynews.att.net/cgi-bin/health?e=pri&dt=040614&cat=news&st=news100053&src=webmdDon't give up your antioxidants, though. They're too important. Just don't overuse them (ie stay within the Tolerable Upper Limits established by the NIH.) Vitamin E: adults, 1500IU; teens, 1200IU; kids 9-13 900IU; children 4-8, 450IU Vitamin C: adults, 2000mg; teens, 1800mg; kids 9-13, 1200mg; children 4-8, 650mg Selenium: adults, 400mcg (this is less than 1/2 mg); teens, 400mcg; kids 9-13, 280mcg; children 4-8, 150mcg
