Jake has been complaining of stomach aches since the first of the year. He has a history of constipation so I have been watching that and it is not the cause of the problem. He is on Concerta which very well may be the problem. He is also taking Calcium, Vit B12, pine bark, grape seed extract, omega 3 and vits. Anyone hear of any problems with these and stomach pain? WE are seeing his psych on thurs to look at the concerta. Any input would be appreciated. Thanx, Sue

I have no experience with meds but the Concerta and the stomach aches really jumped out from my memories of reading the medication boards. I do believe that stomache aches is a terribly common side effect of Concerta in particular. I do have experience with everything else except the grape seed extract and pine bark and none of those are typically linked to stomach aches. What are the pine bark and grape seed extract for? Behind the concerta I would place grape seed extract as the most likely culprit simply because these extracts can be very strong. Hope you can track it down, poor little guy!

Sue, my money is on Concerta. Stomach aches seem to be one of the common complaints among those who take it. As far as I know, none of the supplements you're using are associated with tummy troubles, although I haven't had any first-hand experience with the pine bark. Good luck.

My son is on Concerta and has been for 8 months and never has complain about a stomach aches, I always made sure he ate (fatty foods) well before taking the medication.
Well a couple of weeks ago. He had some bad stomach pains...to the point that he didn't even want to go play outside.
His pediatrician did some blood test and xrays and could not find anything wrong. She recommended my son lay off dairy products for a couple of days. It turned out she was right. He was lactose intolerance. He had been having a lot of cheese products during the time he had the stomach aches. Now, I just give him lactose intolerance tablets when he is going to eat dairy, because its important the my son has fatty foods with the concerta...at least that is what his ADHD doctor recommended to us.
I heard that Concerta can cause constipation. I am always worried about that for my son that's why I give him a few tablets of Chlorella ( green algae). It's very good for the immune system and for keeping your intestine clean from bacteria. My husband and I take it as well. It works very well for all of us. It keeps us regular, which is nice.
Good luck to you. I hope you find something that helps your child.
Gina.
