well, i can't say i was greatly impressed with our initial appointment. they did like the fact we are on FG. and want us to continue with that. no surprise there. our vitamin and supplement routine at this point is ok with them, pending the test results. the only thing we are going to add to that routine at this point is Zinc. so, in about 4 to 6 weeks, we should hear something from them. i hope it will shed more light on my DS. he was a brave trooper today. they drew blood from his arm for the first time. and he didn't even complain about a single thing. if it were me, i would have passed out or fainted. i hate blood draws and donating blood. anyway, we will carry on doing the same old thing. stage 1 of FG!!!! and hope the next 4 to 6 weeks goes fast. thanks for reading!!!!

Did they do other types of tests as well, or stick with the blood work? What was their rationale for the zinc? Why do you have to wait so long?
Details, man, details!
Sorry to hear you weren't enthusiastic about your visit, but once you've got a treatment plan in hand, maybe things will start to look up.

they took blood, hair and urine to test for my DS body chemistry. why so long for test results? i believe it's due to the amount of patients they see. and the thinking/reasoning behind the zinc. according to them, there is a high copper/low zinc issue with ADHD. and as you probably know, if your fingernails have a lot of white specs on them, that's a sign of low zinc. so, the only supplement they gave me was a zinc/combo thing that they make. this is to get my DS started on increasing his zinc prior to the test results coming back. below is our vitamin and supplement routine, which they had me change slightly. they liked all of my vitamins and thought i was giving my DS too much E. so, other than that, i seem to be on track. but, they test results will help us streamline the plan.
Breakfast
1/2 Capsule of Primer until May 15, 2004 then 1 Capsule of Primer 1 Capsule of B-50 1/2 Teaspoon of Omega-3 (875 EPA/625 DHA)
Lunch
1 Tablespoon of Multi Vitamin Liquid 2 Tablets of Calcium (250 mg) 1 Tablet of Magnesium (200 mg) 1/2 Teaspoon of Omega-3 (875 EPA/625 DHA) 1/2 Tablet of Vitamin C (250 mg)
Dinner
1 Tablet of Magnesium (200 mg) 1/2 Teaspoon of Omega-3 (875 EPA/625 DHA) 1/2 Tablet of Vitamin C (250 mg) 1 Softgel of Vitamin E (200 IU)

John, Sounds like you were a little underwhelmed, but I hope the info they give you later will help. Did you have to bring home some tests to do (stool, etc) and mail back? It took me a week to get the tests done and sent back, and then it takes about 10 days for tests results to all come back. So I know that's one reason for the delay.
Just a thought....since so many kids react to some portion of a B multi, have you ever thought about holding it for a week or so and see what happens? I didn't think my ds reacted to B's at all but when I held the B-50 I saw a big behavioral change when I started back on it.
I hope you get the a plan that will work for you. We really feel like we are heading in the right direction now, and I hope you can get that direction for your child too.

Yes, i've thought about holding back on the vit. B. but, Pfeiffer suggested that i continue on with it. so, that's what i'll do. they didn't suggest a stool test yet. so, i haven't done that yet.
i hope that their vitamin plan will work. so, there is still hope!!!!
