i made the appointment for my DS for the end of April! i really hope it will shed more light on my DS' ADHD and ODD.
i hope it gives us more information that we don't know about.
i only wish it was sooner than the end of April.
for those of you who have been to Pfeiffer, did they suggest a diet like FG or a Casein/Gluten Free diet?
we already are on FG with very small good results. maybe i'm hoping better results than it can give.

They'll give you specific diet information. For example, we need to avoid things with copper. That means no tap water, no chocolate, carob, etc. They also suggested no red or yellow food dyes and limit sugars because of the yeast. They are supportive of your diet of choice; like they are very familiar with FG and are fine with it. This is a process that does require patience. After our appt. they say it takes 4 weeks to get results--two weeks for them to get all the results back and 2 to process and write recommendations. It was exactly 4 weeks for us. Then it takes another 2 weeks to get your vitamins if you order themfrom them. So be prepared to wait. and wait...... Also, don't forget to take very specific info on what you are taking now. Like not just "a B 50 vitamin". They want to know what is in it and what amounts.

AustinsMom, Do you think the treatment prescribed for you at Pfeiffer is having results? What changes are you seeing at this point?
JohnBark, It sounds like this is a good step for you to take. I hope you'll get the info you need to implement effective treatment. It's so frustrating trying to find answers to such a complex condition. I'm 100% convinced, in my heart and in my brain, that the answer doesn't lie in medication. Trouble is, it's incredibly difficult to determine what each child needs, since there seem to be so many factors in ADHD. Best of luck.

catatonic, We saw changes before we even started their vitamins because they took us off the multi with copper and gave us a multi they compound with high zinc in it. And then going off the B vitamin too. So we were doing better--more cooperative, less argumentative--when we started their protocol which was just over a week ago. He is even better this week which at first I thought was the Pfeiffer stuff, then I realized his annual allergy shot was 3 weeks ago and and it kicks in at ~2 wks usually. In our results phone call last week, June (our nurse there) said it is common for people to notice changes just with the simple change they make at the evaluation. After you start, she said around 3 weeks is the point you might start seeing a difference. I'm just happy that things keep getting better. ;D
