Well, I'm finally about halfway through this 268-page book.
In discussing the need to detoxify the body, Dr. Lawlis mentions that even bottled water is not necessarily pure, but he doesn't explain how to find pure water. A few pages later he said to drink a lot of water in order to help detoxify. I wish he would have explained that better.
I don't think he mentioned the Feingold diet, but I think he would be a proponent of it. He did make an interesting correlation between ADD and diet. He says that "a characteristic associated with a gene has to be elicited and provoked by the environment to manifest itself." He uses the example of someone having a genetic tendency for fast running. The characteristic won't show up unless the person exercises and has opportunities for running. That is the impact diet has on ADD. "You don't create ADD with nutrition, but you can make it better or worse with what you eat."

I'm reading the specific nutritional needs now. He says that 94% of ADD children test low for magnesium. He gives recommended amounts for EFAs (essential fatty acids) and other nutrients, but I haven't finished that part yet; will post them if anyone is interested.

Well, a month later and I'm finally getting to post about this again. I decided not to finish the book because (1) I didn't care for some of what he said, (2) I had gotten through the "meat" of what he was saying, and (3) I am really busy and it was due back at the library (had already renewed it once) He is very much an alternative therapy proponent. I DID like what he had to say about nutrition and biofeedback. If anyone wants specifics, I'll say more. He also endorses the use of magnets and other therapies that I'm not familiar with. Modify: BTW, it's rare that I don't finish a book that I've chosen to read (well, in this case my husband chose it for me). The main reason is that I ran out of time.

Bravo for the quick recovery Tara had to bounce off the dirt road out to the club before beliving that you can get hurt riding in the back of a truck. Mikey put his hand on the hot pan. He didn't do it again, and so far hasn't again. YES!! I hear you Kaiti .... Our kids often have to learn the "hard way" ... but once they learn ... they learn ... Skay .. THANKYOu for sharing what you have learned from the book ! ... I struggled a little over getting my head around the food being a replacement for the med .... but this is sure an interesting concept and who am I to say it wouldn't work!! ... and it is sure worth a TRY for those whose children are on meds and who are simply wishing something 'else' would work.... Interesting stuff ... THANKYOU!!
