Anyone ever give a Saliva Test with Dr. Laura Thompson from So. California to your child? We've done a hair sample test.
Thanks!

What's it for? I have had a saliva test for hormones. Holistic dr. believe it's more accurate than the blood tests used by regular dr. because it gets circulating hormones. I guess this is similar but what for?
Hair tests alone aren't very predictive is what I have read. Pfeiffer does hair and blood and urine and builds a perspective based on symptoms as well as the results that are shared by the tests. That seems more reliable to me but it's a lot of testing. lisle

Hi,
In the future I think you can expect a DNA test for ADHD, much like taking a q-tip and getting a saliva sample, however, that's probably 10-15 yrs down the road maybe; can't really tell how long but the Human Genome project has certainly opened the doors to a lot of future discoveries.
take care

Saliva tests can be quite reliable for certain things. I know that during my last pregnancy, due to threatened pre-term labor, I was monitored weekly for hormone levels via saliva testing. I didn't even have to give the sample in person, but used a prepared test tube and the FedEx guy picked it up on schedule each week. Hair testing gets mixed reviews. Because it is subject to environmental contamination, the results are not always reliable.
I'm curious about Dr. Thompson and her clinic. Can you share your experience with her so far? Is medical insurance covering any of this? What kind of results are you getting?
