I'd check for artificial flavors and artificial colors before using them. If they look clean, why not? Anything that makes it easier to get the vitamins inside their bodies (as opposed to hidden under the sofa or stuffed inside the scrambled eggs left on their plate).

Hi Cat...
You described my YOUNGEST. 5yrs...I find chewable vitamins all over the place! Moved the couch and there were a couple back there and on the floor and he's getting clever about NOT taking them! He GRINDS his teeth at night something TERRIBLE!! I went and got the EXPENSIVE chewable calciums with magnesium and the chewable multi vitamin and HE won't take them. Those things are GOOD tasting but never the less it's a battle! The calcium does help with teeth grinding but it's when I can get them to take them!
my girl 8yrs/55lbs we do
Lecithin....400MG concentrate (twice a day) Magnesium...133mg (twice a day) add vitamin E.....200 I.U. (once a day) salmon oil.....160mg EPA 240mg DHA (twice a day) multi vitamin...bugs bunny (once a day)
Do you see if I need to improve on what I'm doing?

Madison, your list looks very good. (Well, I might not be thrilled about the bugs bunny, since it doesn't sound like the Feingold Association would approve it, but sometimes you have to compromise your standards just to get the stupid vitamins into their bodies!) Are you finding that your supplements are helping? What seems improved, and what hasn't changed? And by the way, how do you like the lecithin concentrate? I just use the granules, but that isn't always the most convenient method to use. Might be worth checking out an alternative "delivery system".
My son goes through teeth grinding episodes, too, but I haven't been able to connect it to anything in particular. I thought magnesium for a while, but then he started grinding again and he hadn't changed his magnesium at all. It's kind of creepy, because he does it hard and you can hear it in the next room.

Hey Cat, Yes...I'm HAPPY with the lectichin but I don't see if it's helping or not? I got the idea from you. She just wouldn't get the granules/drinks and it's MUCH easier. The vitamins DO help with settling her down for homework and in general otherwise she's bouncing. I don't see her ever without them right now. CALCIUM does HELP alot with teeth grinding!! It WORKS but it's getting them to take it. Get the chewables because those BIG regular swallow calcium will make them sick to swallow...trust me on that one...I take them myself. Make SURE your child gets at least 1000 mg a DAY! Mine are those Caltrate with magnesium and a little other vitamins in there. TWO before bed is a good amount. Keep with it and I think it should help alot. My kid grinds them SOOOO badly! Tons of chipped teeth but I'm now getting that calcium going. I didn't realize he was doing that so badly. Hubby said "He's not heard him grinding so badly since the calcium." Every kid is different. My LD girl which does the vitamins listed above can't take calcium before bed becasue she had a BIG problem with wetting the bed. The calcium relaxed her too much through the night. Calcium is a good sleep aid for ANYONE that has a hard time sleeping. Helps me and youngest and OLDEST to sleep MUCH better! But that is bad when you have a bed wetter. FINALLY.....The key to a DRY BED was the MAGNESIUM!!!!! I can't stress that enough.....Magnesium helps the bladder STRECH through the night and after a few nights of magnesium right before bed two tablets....SHE WAS DRY!!! Why didn't I read that SOONER!!! Just about every morning she would wake up with a WET bed and it became habit of changing the sheets. Watch what they drink before bed and no calcium or milk before bed but they can have it any other time of the day! Just not after like 5pm. Hope this helps a little? let me know if it works? take care....Madison the CALCIUM CALTRATES are like BIG tums...flavored chewables. You might not like the flavors being a additive but hopefully they won't set you off your feingold diet too much. They are 500mg each ;D I KNEW you wouldn't like the Flintstone chewables. See I do pay attention to your posts.... Take care...good luck....madison

Is teeth grinding a sign of calcium deficiency or is this just an odd coincidence? Me and my son both grind our teeth (mostly involuntarily while we sleep). Also, I have been giving my son two doses of magnesium-one in the morning and one before bed but haven't seen improvement in bed-wetting. Is this because I am giving him a Cal/Mag/Zinc together as one and the calcium is counteracting the effectiveness of the magnesium against bed-wetting? Or is it all just a mystery of the universe? Hi Kimmers, OK...You need to give them the MAGNESIUM alone. Before bed NOT mixed with the calcium or any other stuff. I tried 1 tablet which wasn't enough then 2 and she was DRY. I was able to back it off to 1 and half before bed. At the time I wasn't giving her anymore than that. She took them before bed for about a MONTH then she FINALLY got where she didn't need them before bed like that. I'm still in the mode of a possible accident but she's been FINE for a long, long time! YEAH! Don't give any calcium before bed. That puts them into a deeper sleep and causes wetting accidents. Calcium is a sleep aid. My kid was about 45 lbs when I started the magnesium alone before bed. Make sure too that you really try and limit DRINKS after like 6pm. Just sips of stuff if all possible. She can't drink either CHOCOLATE MILK or HOT COCO after 6pm. She'll be WET! The dairy/calcium in it or milk. Found that out the hard way when she spent the night with a friend and her mom served them hot chocolate that evening. She knows now DO NOT DRINK milk products before bed. Also cold medicines or ANYTHING else given before bed the magnesium DOESN'T work! I just always try to give all other meds, etc BEFORE 6pm then magnesium as usual before bed.
take care...madison

Kimmers, YES...I've heard/read that TEETH grinding can be possible LOW in calcium and adding that to diet it will improve with teeth grinding. They claim sometimes teeth grinding can be stress too but I DON'T believe that because he's only 4yrs when he started this. Drinking lots of milk doesn't really help they NEED those supplements. I try to get him to take 2 / 500mg a day (chewables). He DOESN'T like them all that much but Daddy says "They are a MUST" It's STOPPED the grinding!....Rather him NOT like them then being TOOTHLESS.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
