I thought I could safely buy an inexpensive generic Vitamin C supplement and at least save money on SOMETHING, so I got the Kirkland brand at Sam's Club. My boy got quarrelsome and irritable and was generally a pain in the b*tt to be around. His teacher even called to tell me he was having a difficult week at school and had started talking too much again.
The only thing I could think of that was different was the Vitamin C, so I stopped giving it to him on Wednesday (skipped his evening tablet). On Thursday he was back to normal and today is being just wonderful. No one else in the family has a problem with this vitamin, just Challenge Boy. (I'm accumulating a cupboard full of vitamins that he reacts to.) I couldn't find anything in the ingredients that looked like a problem, although I suppose there could be incidental additives that are not listed.
Could it be the Vitamin C itself? (Hard to imagine, but I don't want to get ANOTHER vitamin only to have him react to it, too.)
Anyone know a source of verifiable additive-free Vitamin C (preferably one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg???)

Hi, My kids can't take vitamin C at ALL. Causes TERRIBLE canker sores in the mouth something TERRIBLE!! They won't even take a vitamin tablet that has the extra vitamin C like in the chewables, etc. Sometimes there's vitamins that they are allergic too. I went and bought some of the EXPENSIVE mini vitamins and there was something in there she was allergic too. She has outdoor allergies like grass, etc and I didn't think about that when buying vitamins. This product was all natural no added dyes 72% whole foods. Well, there's stuff like Barley grass concentrate, Alfalfa, etc in VERY SMALL amount but must be enough to set off her allergy's! The whites of her eyes get red. I'm too collecting alot of vitamins either they can't take or WON'T take!! Come look at my supply...LOLOLOL!! ;D I'm just using up the ones on myself that won't work for them Well, hope this gives you some insite...Take care...Madison

I do the same thing, Madison...take the reject vitamins myself. Too bad we don't live in the same neighborhood. We could set up a vitamin swap!

Me, too --have a cabinet full until they expire or I take them. Too bad there aren't "virtual vitamins." Now there's a business idea. If a guy could sell snowballs on the street in Manhattan when it was snowing (did you see that in the newspaper?), why can't we sell vv's? Well, that wouldn't be very ethical, would it? lisle

;D Too funny!
I decided to clean out my refrigerater today and there were vitamins to the very back and front and they were falling off the shelf! My mom does the SAME thing. She said "I mixed all them together and take whatever 3 come to the TOP of the bottle that way you don't have to keep opening so many bottles!" She said "I know they are GOOD for something but can't remember by the time she gets to the bottom of her extra amount!" Wal-mart had those REALLY good centrums on sale big bottle and mini bottle for 5.00 and what do I do??? STOCK UP....lolololol!!! Now what was I thinking about!? Take care....madison
