I had buried this in another thread, but pulled it out cause I am interested in other ideas on this:
After reading several posts about Amen's website, I did the checklist too and my ds8 came out with ADD Combined and Cingulate System Hyperactivity, the same 2 primary areas that Kimmers child did. When I read the info on the web site though, it sounds like the frontal cortex needs dopamine and a low carbo diet, and the cingulate needs serotonin and high carb diet. And to make it really difficult it sounds like the dopamine and serotonin have an inverse relationship, so increasing one decreases the other and vice versa. So that left me confused on how to do this...certainly the cingulate issues (opposition and negativity) are the ones that make my life most difficult. But the attention is too critical for education to not say it is the most important. Do you just choosing one to focus on? Just interested to hear how others would approach this. Sometimes it feels like the more you learn the more questions you have..........

Austins mom, It does get confusing. I understand. When we took the test online there was almost every brain area that showed up as out of wack. It is no wonder because from going to the clinic and getting the brain scans it proved to be ring of fire, that is all systems out of wack. So, what do you do? It was explained to me that the prefrontal cortex could not be addressed till the other area was stable. In our case that meant the temporal lobes. I'm working on that now. It's one thing at a time with us because when one area is under control some of the others fall in place or could at least be easier to "fix" after progress is acheived in that first area.
With your situation it says... "When cingulate symptoms are present with ADD symptoms (prefrontal cortex) it is important to use St.John's Wort with a stimulating substance like tyrosine ...."
It would make sense to give the diet that will best help with the cingulate symptoms (this is my thought). You will need to focus more on this area.
