Hello, we just got some stuff called PCA-RX to try detoxing for mercury and other metals from vaccines that has been linked to ADHD. IT is called oral chelation from a website called awakennutrition.com has anyone heard of this? It is expensive but we just started ds on it today. Also what is DMAE how does it work? Thanks April

We have monitered the heavy metal toxicity for quite a few years. Austin has tested high on different heavy metals (byhair and by urine tests) for at least 4 years. We have tried the PCA-RX, but I can't say I saw the results like are quoted on web sites. I am using antioxidants and enzymes to help digestion and elimination now. So guess I don't have any good answers...but I will be interested to hear what your experience on the oral chelation is. Good luck!

I'd be happy to tell you what we are using, but I'd suggest that you just do the PCA-RX by itself first, so you can see how it works. Then once you see if it is helpful you can add one thing at a time. That way you'll know what is helpful, so you can continue what works, and stop what doesn't.
Ds doesn't absorb vitamins well, so we are using papaya enzymes, and probably need to add more--I'm looking at this now. He also has constipation problems so things aren't eliminated well. We added a Nature's Sunshine product called Bowel Detox, which helps elimination. Austin would feel sick at his stomach when he would have a B*M before we started this, and now that has stopped and he is more regular. We are weaning off of this now to see if it's ok without it. And then we just take a good multi-Vitamin and an antioxidant supplement. We take other supplements, but those are ones that are supposed to target the heavy metal problem. Hope this helps.

Hi, We did 2 bottles of the PCA RX and my son's mercury did come down to normal limits, but the aluminum which is supposed to be detoxed first, didn't budge. Lead was still a little high. It's hard to say if the mercury came down from the PCA or just by itself. It's been a year or more and the aluminum is still high. It concerns me since it's stored in the frontal lobes. That's if all this is real. I am not sure. I wonder sometimes if everyone were tested if we all would show these values from vaccines.
Has anyone tried the MT Promoter from Pfeiffer Treatment Center? We are about to start that, if my son ever gets over the flu.
If the MT is enhanced over time, supposedly the body will rid itself of the toxic metals that exist. It's a huge number of amino acids in one preparation from what I can tell. You give it only three days a week. It can cause agitation and you have to start slow.
My son doesn't absorb vitamins well either, and this is supposed to help that too. The enzymes didn't help us. Sounds like we are doing some similar things. lisle

Oh, by the way, I forgot: DMAE is like a natural stimulant. It can make your child irritable if you have a kid with mood problems, but for some kids it works well for attention. Be cautious if your kid is possibly bipolar, and steer away from it then. lisle

DMAE is a natural substance that stimulates the brain's production of choline. At one time, prior to the explosion in Ritalin use, DMAE was the treatment of choice for hyperactive children. Overall, research on its effectiveness is divided. Russell Blaylock talks about DMAE in his book "Excitotoxins" (which is a book I think all of you would really enjoy!). He says: "In one large study involving behavioral problems in children, it was found that DMAE supplementation reduced hyperactivity, increased attention span, and reduced irritability in 76% of girls and 66% of boys. It may offer a better alternative than Ritalin in cases of attention deficit disorder." Recommended pediatric dose is 200 - 250mg per day. My boy takes a 250mg capsule each morning. I can't say yet what the impact on attention span is, but I believe I'm seeing a reduction in hyperactivity. We haven't been using it long enough, though, and attention span is hard to evaluate at home; it's more of an issue at school. DMAE isn't a magic bullet. It can take as long as 6 months to address the underlying cause of low acetylcholine/choline production in the brain and for the supplement to achieve its full results. We have not tried chelation since blood tests indicate this is not an issue for my boy. I would urge anyone utilizing chelation to be very selective in deciding where to get products or information. Chelation is one of the current hottest areas for fraud in the OTC medication industry. In fact, the Federal Trade Commission has issued a cease-and-desist order to the American College for the Advancement in Medicine (a chelation organization) to force it to stop making false claims about chelation and engaging in false advertising. At present, they are ignoring the order. Many chelation clinics and physicians are at present the focus of lawsuits and criminal complaints charging fraud and malpractice. (A partial list is here: www.quackwatch.org/search/webglimpse.cgi?ID=1&query=chelation ) I'm not saying chelation is bad or that it won't work. I don't know enough about it to make that judgment. What I'm saying is be careful to select a reputable practioner and a reputable chelation product as well as a reputable lab to independently confirm the need for chelation. This is an area where lots of frauds and opportunists are moving in, which is unfortunately how many alternative treatments get a bad reputation. Even treatments that work are made to look bad because of the quacks who jump in to make a quick dollar. So be careful...and good luck!
