Well, so far, so good. I guess.
Day 1:
Gave Bubba his first dose of Homarus. He got pretty hyper and giddy, but I'm not sure if that was excitement about finally getting a remedy or if it was a reaction to the med. We took it easy with school. About half way through the day, I noticed that he wasn't hyper anymore, and wasn't asking ridiculous questions (this is a standard for him...watching me pull pizza out of the oven, he asks what's for dinner...) He was generally being calm and helpful, and not antagonizing his sisters. I've never seen this side of Bubba before! Cool!
Day 2
Before we headed out to our Homeschool co-op, Dh and I both noted that Bubba is still very calm. Without prodding, he got dressed, ate breakfast, and was ready to go out the door, asking if there was anything else he could do to help? I really like this edition of Bubba! Can I keep him?!
At co-op, I gave him his second dose of remedy. Half an hour later, he's sitting in art class yelling at me and crying (honest to goodness tears of frustration) because he can't make his picture look like he wants. I explain to him that he followed directions perfectly, and that IS what it's supposed to look like. No good. He spent the rest of the day being flighty, hyper and beligerant. Constantly interupting, and can't shut his mouth even when he is told directly to stop talking. Acts like a food reaction.
Day 3
Dh is fed up w/Bubba's behavior before 9am. Rolling the eyes, expressing exasperation, acting sullen. They are off to gymnastics and basketball. Dh just called and said Bubba is having a very hard time with classes today. Out of control giddy one moment, and the next he's in a rage because he can't make a basket.
Wonder how long all of this will last?

I tried a homeopathic remedy for one of my boy's allergies. First day, he thought it worked great. Second and third day he was complaining that it just didn't seem to work like that first time. Fifth day we gave up and refilled the Allegra.
I looked up as many studies as I could find on homeopathic cures, and nearly every double-blind study I read concluded the homeopathic treatment didn't work any better than a placebo. In fact, I read a couple of studies that said homeopathic treatments ARE a placebo.
So I was discouraged. I'd really been hopeful that the hayfever homeopathic might prove a more natural alternative to the other allergy medicines my boy takes. Instead it was a big disappointment, and I don't think I'd try another homeopathic treatment. I sure hope you have better luck than we did.

We've been using homeopathy for allergies and first aid stuff for a couple of years now. Hyland hayfever worked much better for us than claratin. I was also pleased because Bubba tends to have behavioral reactions to hayfever stuff. Hyland's really helped with that.
We've used it enough to be completely convinced. There are so many things that can antidote (therefore make ineffective) a remedy. Worth studying up on. You may have been exposing him to something that was reversing the remedy, without even realizing it.

Thanks for the homeopathy update. Are you seeing any different changes after the first 3 days? This interests me (part of my never ending quest for something helpful....part of my "leave no stone unturned" mentality) and it is helpful to hear of your thoughts about it.

Well, we made it through a tough weekend! Bubba was very hyper, and incredibly innatentive. But he seems to be settling down now. He's still a bit forgetful, but seems to be calming. I wish I could describe it fully. I guess maturity is the best way to describe it. Before, he was a nine year old that acted like a hyper 4 year old. Now he acts like an active 9 yo. Not being goofy all the time, being able to take his focus away from what he's working on and actually hear me, and answer me coherantly.
Bubba is still having occasionaly spurts of hyperness, but they are what I would consider normal (keeping in mind I've never had a 'normal' 9yo boy, I could be completely wrong! ;o)
For instance, when wrestling w/dh, he doesn't know when to quit. Still not picking up on all the social ques, but definately picking up more of them than he used to. He gets jokes. It always astonished me that this little joker man, who LOVES telling jokes and pulling practical jokes (much to the frustration of our family) did not GET it when someone joked with him. He always took whatever you said as fact, and then would get all upset, thinking you were serious. Like when he asked if he was going to get to go to Six Flags. Dh responded, "Nope. We decided we only had enough for 4 people, and since we really don't like you at all, we're leaving you at home." Now, this was said with a huge grin, and definate joking tone. Bubba burst into tears because he was going to miss the trip. He KNOWS we would never leave him behind, but didn't get the joke.
OK, must get to school...time for Story of the World!

We are seeing consitant improvement. He is more settled, not having fights with friends, and gets mulitplication! (Yahoo!)
After AWANA last night, his older sister had choir practice. My girlfriend and I were alarmed when we couldn't find the boys...that's always a bad sign. We were so surprised to find them sitting in the back of the sanctuary, listening to practice and discussing the best way to get to the next level on the Toy Story 2 computer game. He was calm, and having an intelligent conversation. Without being forced!
He goes back for a check up in early January.

Riahbubbapooh:
Is Homeopathy expensive?....who do I go about doing this for my son?

After reading "Rage Free Kids" by the Ullman's, I have explored the possibility of using homeopathy also, which is why I have been so interested in this thread. We live in Missouri, in a town of only ~120,000 and resources for homeopathy here aren't good. There are alot of ND's, but they aren't very experienced with ADHD, and often seem to push some supplements they are selling....at a good price.
So I am doing a phone consult with the Ullman's next week, and will tell you all what I think after I do that. They feel like they can do an extensive phone interview, with me, dh and ds (it's a 2 hour initial call) and treat ds. There are 3 month follow ups. Apparently, most of their work is by phone. From what I understand, the actual "medicine" isn't expensive, and followup frequency is reasonable, so the main thing is the dr. visit fee. I'll keep you all posted.....
It is so encouraging to hear your good news, Riahbubbapooh! I'm so happy for you.

The Ullman's are the ones who convinced us! We were considering doing the phone consult with them, because we know so many who have had tremendous success with them.
Thankfully, we were able to find a classical homeopath right in our area, which brought the cost down quite a bit. ($150 for initial two hour visit, $50 for follow ups, the medicine cost us $25 shipped to our door.)
The Ullman's have a lot of good guidelines for how to find a good homeopath in your area, such as what questions to ask, and how to sift through them.
I am very pleased so far with the results. And I know that Bubba is pleased with how much easier life is lately.

We did our phone consultation with the Dr. Ullman tonight, and he is shipping our remedy (cina) to us. I'm anxious to try it out and see if I get the same good results as you, Riahbubbapooh. Is everything still going well for you?
