I read an article that said blue green algae is good to give children that have ADD. I've had my son on it for about 6 weeks though and not noticed any difference. Had him using about 1 tsp of flax seed oil a day too, but didnt notice anything. I have just purchased some Calcium/Magnesium tablets that I think I will try now. Anybody else used the blue green algae?

Spirulina has some value as a nutrient. It contains quite a good variety of trace minerals, and there is evidence that it may serve an anti-oxidant function in helping to protect you against cancer or cardiovascular disease. It's also rich in vitamin B12 and is a good source of plant proteins, as well as the essential fatty acid GLA (found in Evening Primrose Oil). Spirulina is nutritious stuff. To find out just how rich and varied its content is, take a look at the website at www.spirulina.com The spirulina "health library" there is interesting. BUT...what there is not is any evidence that spirulina will help with ADHD. Not even the spirulina manufacturers make that claim. That doesn't necessarily mean it won't, just that no one has ever examined the question specifically. Looking at its nutrient content, it's hard to see where it would have ADHD benefits. However, it won't hurt you to take it, so there are no risks to trying it out. Just don't have too high expectations for results.
