I just started Devin on Omega 3 yesterday. I started with 1 gelcap yesterday around dinner time, and then 1 gelcap this morning with breakfast. And boy!! did he have a bad day. Temper tantrums, meltdowns, you name it. So bad, he had to go the the principal's office....(his teacher is fantastic, he NEVER goes there) well, when there is a sub he might. Anyway, is this at all related with Omega 3, is there any known side effects of hyperactivity or mood swings with this? Should I stop the "seafood vitamin" as he calls it. Thanks for any advice....

I've never heard of that kind of reaction being due to Omega-3, and in fact it's difficult to see how it's possible. Do you have your son on any other supplements? If so, my first suspicion would fall on Vitamin B or amino acids. Also, did you go back and check what he ate? My son behaves that way when he's gone off-diet. BHT tends to make him VERY angry, corn syrup turns him into tantrum boy, and artificial colors make him oppositional and he wets the bed. I really would put the fish oil WAY at the bottom of the suspects.

Help me out Cat but I am not sure the Omega 3 would have had a chance to get into the body and work that fast... I agree with Cat that it was possibly something he ate. I would go back and try and pick out things he ate that contain suspicious ingredients. I found out the hard way (just yesterday!) that my son cannot have chocolate. Kimmers

I think the omega 3 has made my son more calm than he has ever been. I do notice certain things he eats will make him really loud. Like Saturday some kid at the bowling alley gave him some starburst and man did he burst. He was loud and argueing and jumping you name it. Before the candy he was nice as ever. I have been avoiding candy like crazy and colored juice.
