I hope this includes the quote correctly...
My son is not currently taking a separate Vitamin E capsule. Could this be why we have seen huge results but not quite seen total improvement...you know those instances when they revert back to their old ways? Also, the only children's multivitamin I have found for my son that contains trace minerals is a chewable that contains tons of artificial colors and flavors...BIG no-no! Are you aware of any "children's" vitamins that are chewable that contain these minerals without all the added junk? The multi-vitamin I take for myself has all these things in them but are huge. Fine for me but not for him to take. He takes the Fish Oil capsules fine but I think it is because they are gel-coated. Help!

Hi Kimmers, Quite honestly I'm no big expert on Omega supplements so I can't answer you on the first question regarding the vitamin E needed to metabolize...however I can recommend a vitamin company that has a good rep for purity (Feingold approved...doesn't get any purer than that!) Here's the link to the kids section of the web site: www.freedavitamins.com/shop/fsearch03.asp My toddler has no problems with the unflavored chewables (actually they taste and smell like vanillla). Also, for non-chewables...they make a multi "vitalet" that's teeny and easy to swallow. Hope this helps! One more thing...if you are experiencing an intermittent " Devil child" and the rest of the time he's fine, it wouldn't hurt to keep a diet diary and see if you can sleuth a food reaction . Food reactions are EXTREMELY commone with kids like ours. Good luck!

Thanks,
I will check into the vitamins and see what I can find. I didn't realize that they made "unflavored" chewables. All I have been able to find are the Bugs Bunny, Flinstones...you know what I am talking about!
And gosh darn it, I don't know why I can't get a handle on this diet thing. That's why I haven't purchased the Feingold Program yet because I am scared to death of spending the money and then not sticking with it. If I can't even stick with it on my own, how will I justify spending the money?? I will make it a priority to start journaling his food intake and see what I find out because intermittent " Devil child" is an exact description of my son. He will be fine and then all of a sudden a couple hours or even a couple of days and it seems like we are back at square one. Then oops, suddenly he's fina again. Sounds like a food issue, huh?
Thanks!!

I'd have to agree with DenverSarah right down the line. Freeda's chewable "Vitalets" are a decent multi that do contain zinc and manganese. They're weak in the magnesium, but most multis don't contain enough magnesium anyway and you have to use a separate supplement. And you'll still need to add the Vitamin E. I doubt lack of Vitamin E is responsible for those regressions (although anything is possible). I'd be more likely to suspect a food or environmental toxin that he's reacting to.
Keeping a diet diary is a great idea. I never would have realized my son can't tolerate corn syrup without the notebook I keep. I'd suggest you also include daily pollen information (including which allergens are most prevalent) because there's always the possibility that good old run-of-the-mill garden variety allergies play a part.
We still have mystery reactions but it's getting easier all the time to figure out why.
