is it safe to give omega three with anyi-depressents. we have decided to put my son back on meds but really do not want to give up the fish oils. any opinions? thanks

Interestingly enough, in addition to their stand-alone benefits, there is research evidence that essential fatty acid supplementation increases the effectiveness of tricyclic anti-depressants, at least in the sense that they take effect more rapidly and consistently. (See www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=12949625&dopt=Abstract ) I am not knowledgeable about meds in general, but I cannot imagine Omega-3 fish oil supplements would, under any circumstances, be a problem -- any more than the use of cooking oil or drizzling olive oil on your bread will interfere with medication.
