:)I didn't want to pay that either. I checked out the book from the public library. It's free. Like you I wanted to try a natural alternative to meds. We had a horrible time on meds. I have an 8 year old son with ADHD. I read the Feingold book, got lots of good pointers, no I don't follow it word for word. VERY strict. He is on a natual supplement and vitamin. OH, and flax seeds. Now he is doing awesome in school and home. If you have any questions feel free to email me! Good luck!

Hi Babytay:
I have been following a modified fiengold diet with my son since he was 3 yrs old. I have only recently started the full blown version. I did not pay the fee at the feingold site. What I did was I bought the book and took it from there. Although I am considering paying the fee, I don't know when or if I will be able too. I am a single mom with no financial help from my son's father so things are quite tight financially in my home. Anyway, if you can buy or borrow the book from your local library, I would say that is a good place to start. Also, Catatonic follows the diet and she may be able to help you with it. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi all! Don't forget that the Feingold Association is a non-profit and can take any financial constraints under consideration. Just call the number. I have a warning though. Since it is non-profit and run by volunteers, the customer service isn't always stellar. Too bad the old site went down but glad to be here!

Thanks you guys
I did call the number. The girl didnt seem friendly at first but I killed her with kindness. She finially told me I could write a letter and explain my situation. she told me to send the letter with a 40 dollar check and they would send the info if they thought I was in need. That is not bad. I would pay the whole 77 dollars if I had it but I am a mother of 3 and I dont get much help. I think I am going to budget and just try to pay the fee if I have to I am interested in this I think it may work. My son is taking gaba, omega-3, and vitiamns. He is doing pretty good on it.
Thanks everyone for your reply

Hi Babytay - I answered your post over on the other site, too. I tried the Feingold diet on my own for about 4 months, which was long enough to know it really works. Because we still had mystery reactions, thanks to products whose ingredients read like they're okay but in reality have hidden additives, I decided to limber up the old credit card and pay. I have not regretted it. I follow the shopping guide faithfully and occasionally use the member support board for help. I'd recommend you try the diet, in a really committed way, for at least a month before you decide. If you've already done this and believe the diet will help your child, I doubt you'd regret joining. If you haven't done the diet yet, and you try it for a month, I think the changes you see - and the ones you'd still like to see - will make joining worthwhile as well.

THank you all for response
I did call the number for feingold and asked about the materials. I couldnt even try the diet if I wanted to without joining because I dont know any of the foods they use and I cant find other resourses. I am going to join I guess I just wanted to see how it worked be for I jump into it I am on a tight budget.
I see some changes in my son right now. I am using the gaba and omega 3. I am not going to say it is working as good as the concerta did at first. But I do see him acting pretty good in school, and he is not dark under the eyes anymore. He still whines a little but not the uncontrolled whining he had with concerta and adderall. I hate the side effects with the concerta I hope the new minerals works so we dont have to go back to the meds. I am going to keep my fingers crossed.

Hello All! New to the board.
We've been using FG for almost 6 years now. It's made such a huge difference! It took me a year to take the plunge and order materials, and I wish I had done it sooner...it made life so much easier! The member's message board is invaluable!
