Hi all, I don't know if you are familiar with Leonard Pitts Jr. He write for teh Miami Herald, and his articles are inother papers. We see his writing in the Philadelphia Inquirer weekly or so. I found an article that was in the paper today, he wrote it on Sept 8th. I just think the courage and strength that the people showed cleaning up was amazing. One person in the article, a gentleman by the name of Kenny Vallia Jr, said "The Lord brought me through the storm to somethin'. And it wasn't to sit around and wallow in self pity." I love that kind of talk I'll be keeping that in mind as I drudge through these first days of school with the kids

We all need to think a little bit more like Kenny Vallia Jr. Yup, God put me on earth to do something important, and I am going to keep trying to do my best at everything, because only HE knows which important thing it is He wants me to do!

It is actually considered a curse word here.

There is a southern term "to do " for someone or something . "I'm going to Miss Mabel's house to do for her.", is an example. It means to do what ever is needed. I think that is what this man is talking about. Doing your job and doing what ever is needed. When I was working as a floor nurse in hospitals, It was not unusual to see me answering other people's lights, covering cold toes on a pt. on a gurney, mopping, cleaning or running to the cafeteria to get something for a pt. I " Did for" my patients. To me it is not only part of my job but it is a part of living on this planet.

:-XI like that says Sweety, it is so true. It reminded me of what my Mom-mom would DO, not say. Then I heard it on the radio one day, and it clicked. Don't just leave, leave it better
