On thursday DSs football team won the District champ title. They had a second undefeated season, and are so excited. Next year they will be in 9th grade and on the JV team, so many of the boys are worried that they will not get much playing time because there will be older boys on the team. DS also came in 4th in district cross country. Today he is at a UIL competetion at another school. He made the Math team, and DD made the Number Sense, Ready Writing, and One Act Play (she is a dragon) . Both kids are gone today untill 9:00 tonight. DD goes back on the 18th for OAP competetion. Wish them both luck today, and what am I going to do with no kids tonight? ;D

Well Amber placed 4th in ready writing, but they did not place in anything else. (OAP is th 18th still) They were disapointed, but Dan spent the time he was not in testing (the test was only an hour or so) with a bunch of girls from other schools. He said they were flirting like crazy with him and his friend R. Some of the girls were "fine" acording to the boys, so I think they had a lot of fun. I went and bought dinner for myself, and re-read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phonix.

Congrats to your ds football team ;D ;D ;D. When Riley was playing rocket football here in their 7th and 8th grade seasons they only lost 2 games so I know what a feat that is!!! When he moved up to JV they only lost one game!! Our team scored 331 points and only had 107 scored against them for the whole season. They missed breaking the school record by only 1 point . It is so exciting once they move up to JV---We are lucky we live in a smaller town so most of the boys had moved up to varsity so all of the boys had playing time---each had their strong points and the coaches knew when to play them---hopefully that will happen with your ds as well. Sorry I proably got carried away here but I love football season---I am the mom that many people don't seat by, I have shakers, cowbells and air horns hehehe but now that the season is over I have it all packed away until next august ;D

You sound like a lot of fun to sit next to. ;D I have to admit I dont know too much about football, but I love to watch the kids. Except when it is my kid under the pile. We are now starting basketball season, we missed district by only one game last year (3 players were injured before the last game of the season) so we are hopfull about this year. The boys (8th grade) played scrimmages aganst the varsity and JV girls (our girls are very good) and they won 3 out of 4 games, so they are very excited about this year. Next year I will have both kids playing basketball, track, and one football, one cheerleader(hopefully) so I will probably be going crazy.

vickilyn, You DO sound like my kind of mom ;D ;D ;D. We are starting basketball season here as well. My oldest (riley) starts practice on tuesday---he is in 9th so he is trying for the freshman team. My youngest (levi) is trying for the 7th grade basketball team. I have already started practices for my middle school cheerleading girls (yes I am the coach ) so between all 3 practices we have my dh running all the time LOL LOL. He has been so good though----supper is ready everynight I come home (i do have to do the dishes ) but I can't complain at least we get to eat something good instead of fast food hehehe.

Amber will be playing our local basetball legue this year for her last time. They seperate the kids into several teams and just play each other, then after 6 weeks they pick for an all-star team who plays several tournaments. Usually about 3, in other towns. She is taking gymnastics to make the cheerleading squad, and should not have any trouble. She can dance, cheer, tumble, jump, has great grades etc. She is in 6th grade, and we start playing for the school in 7th. Dan will be in 9th grade next year. In our school for any of the sports, if you sign up you are on the team. They only play the first string for football most of the time though. And for basketball they put the 8 best on "A" team, everyone else goes on "B" team. But at least everyone is on the team, even if they dont play very much. Cheerleaders are the only ones who need to try-out. We have 4 7th grade, 4 8th grade and they cheer together. 6 9th grade for JV, and 8 from 10th, 11th, and 12th for varsity. Twirlers need to tryout as well, but since we only have a few girls who twirl, they almost automaticaly make it. Flaggs also hold tryouts, and you have to be in band to be a twirler or flag, and can not be a cheerleader and twirler, or flag. You must be only one of them. I like it that everyone is on the sports teams, but if all they want to be is a member, they dont need to try very hard. They can sit on their buts all year, and not practice to get better, but when the season starts, they automaticaly get on the team.

Well One Act Play was yesterday, and they got 3rd. Only 3 schools were there ;D Amber was named to All-star Cast, so now she thinks she wants to be an actress when she gets older . We are finally done with UIL Competetions, so maybe I can have a few minutes a day to relax now.
