During a conference with Kyle's teacher, she said that one day, instead of paying attetion to the lesson she was teaching at the board, he was reading a book. She decided to let it go... only to have him complete each part of the following assignment, reading between questions... and getting it all correct!! She actually laughed, and said that this was her first experience with this type of behavior in third grade. She's only had upper levels (eigth and higher) be successful at this apparent reading instead of listening... and still performing. BTW, she has put him at a 5th grade reading level ;D. Now... if only he could get his work done!

OH BUNNY YOU MADE MY DAY!!!! Mikey did the same thing last year in first grade. His teacher said she would ask him a question to test him, as she didn't think he was paying attention. She went and checked his desk when he wasn't there........every single book was opened to read while she was doing a lesson at the board You know what I think, I think that is the greatness that these children behold. Oh and the work getting done, good luck, when you find that key, I'd like to borrow it

Oh this is smart!! ... and I think Kaiti is right ... this CAN be a gift our adhd'ers have .... In fact I am wondering whether BECAUSE being an adhd'er his attention was not 100% on the book ... & the teaching of the lesson was in fact "distracting" him ... so what actually happened was he took in ALL of the "distraction" ... which in fact means that if the "distraction" is positive then this might be a way forward for teachers!! ... WAY TO GO KYLE!!
