My son was given the book James and the Giant Peach to read as homework over the weekend. He is now on page 85 and I didn't have to get on his case to read it. He is doing it all by himself. He is reading as I type this....

I am soo tickled about this and soooo proud. I never thought i would see this day. I have always tried to instill in him a love of reading. I am a reader, a very heavy reader and I wanted him to know what joy it is to loose oneself in a book. It looks as if I might just achieve this goal....

Oh I am so pleased to hear this!!!It sounds to me like you have a reader on your hands.I think the trick is to find something that really sparks his interest and he has found it!!!!way to go!!!!

Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it. Reading is one of the things my kids have always loved. Mikey as gotten to the point that he's reading shampoo bottles, while going to the bathroom :oTakes after his mama I have to admit, BUT he's reading none the less  Congratulations Josh!!!!!  |

I thought I was the only one who read the shampoo bottles in the bathroom  he he he at least I know I'm not alone!!!!!!!!!!! gabrielsmom - congratulations on having a happy reader - it can be so hard to get them to read, it's easier if they like it!!!!!!!!!!!! Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

WELL DONE GABRIEL !! ... Oh I agree Josh - a love of books and reading is such a great way to spend some time!! ... (I am another avid reader!) ...
Unfortunately though like Amsmom's son getting Sam to "read" a book is virtually impossible - he will flick happily through magazines or newspapers and read bits and pieces from them ... but never, ever a "book" as such!!
Good for you Gabriel!! I hope you get a lot of pleasure from books in life!!
