All I ever hear from the school is that DD is having problems. I hardly ever hear anything good. So it was a shock to get a call from the school today. She was sick last week with a virus and missed the entire week so they weren't able to send me an invitation to the awards ceremony today. She was going to be receiving an award! I couldn't believe it. I think I am still in shock. The award is called the Warner Wildcat Award. It says "A Warner Wildcat always remembers to follow the 'Rules for Living' Accepts responsibility for her own learning decisions and actions. Shows consideration for teachers, staff, fellow students and visitors. Believes in herself and takes pride in what she does. Works with the teacher to make sure she learns as much as she can." Maybe I'm missing something. I have only heard bad things since she has been in school. Don't get me wrong I am proud. It's just so hard to believe. I almost want to call the school and ask if they are sure they have the right kid. She also brought home her report card today. Here (in the primary grades k-2) they only give out checks, check minuses, check pluses, and * area of concerns. Last nine weeks she had all check minuses. This time all were brought up to checks except for four. Those four were for behavior problems. I just had to share this with everyone. I am soooooo proud!

Good for you aimee. You have a lot to be proud of there. And it was nice talking to you last night in the chat room, although my son had to drag me away. That chat room seems to be a bit of fun!!

Hi Aimee !! WELL DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTER !!! .... ;D Sometimes I think our kids are NOWHERE near as much of a problem as the schools can sometimes makes us think ... they seem to be VERY quick on giving us the negatives but very slow in giving us the positives!! ... Sometimes when we only get the negatives we start to believe that is the way it is!! ... I had a similar thing with my son a year or so ago ... Every time I had spoken to the school it seemed that they expressed "negatives" ... I was feeling despondent ... and THEN (like you at an Awards Ceremony at the end of the school year) he was awarded with the "Certificate for Outstanding Effort across the curriculum" .... You could quite literally have knocked me down with a feather !! ... I also (secretly) wanted to ring the school and see if they had made an error!! I think its a shame though that these GOOD things are not worthy of the school making a phone call about ... it seems we only ever hear if there is something negative!! ... WELL DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTER !!! ...This is BRILLIANT!! ... You deserve to be VERY, VERY proud!!

Wonderful news for you and her. You know, a little boost to the self esteem sometimes works wonders with these kids.
