Katie got her brown/black belt last night! She'll be testing for her black belt in August. She's really looking forward to breaking a board with her bare hand!
Another good thing...she was one of the band members picked to play her clarinet at the rally this afternoon. Just wish I could have sneaked in to listen, but I had to go back to work on Wednesday

Hi LitlBaa, I know how you feel about the belt. My son just got his orange belt. We started about 6 months ago. After a few months he whined and said he did not want to go anymore. I had paid for 6 months (cheaper that way) and told him that he could wuit when the 6 months was up. I refuse to let him quit something just because....you start it you finish and when its done if you dont want to then you can quit. Now that he is an orange belt and gets to spar he loves it. He went to a tournament this weekend and took second in kata and first in sparring. He was so proud of himself.....smiling ear to ear.....ok we were too. I read in a book that karate is a great sport for our little ADHD kids. Congrats to Katie! Christine

Christine, that is so cool! Karate has been so good for Katie, and it sounds like it's been great for your little guy too. Congrats on his sparring victory!
