My DS's basketball team had their second game on monday, and I was so proud of the whole team. The B team has a boy who has some speach and hearing problems, is older than the class, but mentaly a little slower and very aukward. He made his first ever basket, and caught 3 rebounds. After both teams played the boys were sitting on the bleachers talking about the game and who did what etc. When this boys name came up the team turned to him and high fived him, clapped him on the back and told him good job, way to go, alright. These boys are the ones who score 7 or 8 baskets per game, are the "popular" group, etc. No on mentioned the mistakes this boy had made, they just let him know they were proud of him. My DS was right in there with this group. This group last year was picking on kids and even some bullying. Now they are encouraging someone who needs it. I wanted to cry I was so happy.
