When I was growing up, there was always somebody who been deemed the "space cadet." There was also someone who was really bright but "had no common sense." Do you suppose that the "space cadets" were really kids that had ADD but we didn't know it was a disorder yet? Same with the ones who "had no common sense." Could it be that these kids had NVLD? As hard as it is raising a child with issues, isn't better for all concerned to know what it is that is making your child different and especially what you can do about it?

I have typed and retyped. I can't get out how I want to say what I have to say. I agree with the space cadet thing. I'll have to post again when I get my thoughts in order. Wondering where the kids get it from......Kaiti

I think definitely sometimes. But then again I know/knew quite a few "space cadets" who do NOT have add/adhd - they are not stupid - but I think they put a lot of priority on other things instead of current events, school, etc. and can come off sounding pretty wifty. Alot of "space cadets" I know were definitely like that - putting most of their energy into - well - think the movie "clueless".

Not all, but definately some "space cadets" are ADD. That is my sister totally. She is still spacey As far as common sense goes, some people just don't have it. I think that is a result of a thought process we all go through. Some people's thought process is different making them react to a problem or situation different that what would be considered common.

One of the ladies in my group for Operations Mgmt. class told me that I'm genius, I don't have to have common sense.
...yes, I am a space cadet!
