We've started hosting at home also.
My father is prone to saying, "I thought that diet was supposed to make him calm!" Well, yeah, but he's still a nine year old boy!
My parents tried to cram 8 adults and six kids into a mobile home. Can you say chaos? Add in the excitement of a holiday, and presents at Christmas...yikes.
Finally, we convinced my sister to host Christmas in her 3,000 square foot home. I don't know why she wouldn't before...we all bring the food, and all clean up...but I digress.
I now host Thanksgiving and Easter at my house, and for the most part, it's my inlaws and friends. My family does their own thing.
I finally laid down a rule. You feed them something that makes them hyper, you have to keep them until it wears off. I was angry when I said it, and they knew I meant it.
Other than that, we keep a tight reign on them at get togethers, and we have a code word. When they hear the code word, they know they are getting out of control. They then have the choice of getting in control themselves, or we will help them.
