This may not be common, but in my state sd qualifies for a "subsidary" due to her educational autistic diagnosis... We get money per month... In depositing this check into saving account (which I have done before), the bank sent me a pamphlet about how social security checks have to be accounted for (anything that is spent), and how the childs name has to be on the account...
As far as we know we only have to fill out a yearly thing, and it does NOT request precisely where the money went etc... Just how it helps with sd's autism, and very general no specifics... Like does it help for educational toys, medications, councelling etc...
Another concern is sd is definately not on the account we deposit the funds too... We did that because we didnt want sd's mom to have claims to those funds if something happened to dh... I believe we are honestly using the money for sd's benefit and I am really offended at the implication from the bank that we have to use it only for certain things...
Anyone else getting this subsidary

I know my first bank account had my name on it...as well as my mom's. I couldn't do anything with the money in it without her signing off on it. Could you possibly get the same kind of account for your daughter? I mean, her name being on it doesn't mean that it has to be out of your control. Unless the mother is willing to go to court to get it, she wouldn't be able to get at anything in it, and I'm sure you keep records of what was spent to show to the judge.

What is it with the bank? It is none of their business. At least I wouldn't think it is. I personally don't receive anything, but I do have a friend who's ex husband receives a check that is supposed to be accounted for. I don't know what all that entails though. As long as your SD is taken care of (which I know you are doing) I wouldn't worry about it.
This is a little different but......
I receive my child support checks through the state. I don't have a bank account although my husband does. It's a long story as to why I don't have one and my name is no where on the account. The bank was trying to give me a hard time (about two years ago) about cashing them. I do have my mortgage loan through them. Been with them for almost 11 years on the mortgage. Anyway, they said something to me once about not wanting to cash my checks without charging me five dollars each time. I flew into them. Told them a mouthful. Haven't had a problem with them since.
Good luck!
