I have noticed with Cami lately that around 5 o'clock she can be real moody, emotional, and somewhat lethargic. On the one hand she is whiny, yet when doing her talking/whining and I say something in response to it she becomes moody and ugly telling me just to leave it or her alone. It usually is around the time she is getting in from school at 4:00 and I am driving her to swim practice at around 5:00. I usually drop he roff with her upset, whining, complaiing of being tired, not wanting to go, crying over something that is going on with her friends, something that happened at school, whatever the "problem of the day is" and then two hours later when practice is over and I pick her up, she is fine and happy again. Anyway, I am just wondering could this be a rebound effect of the concerta? She takes it at 6:45 am school days so I'm sure at around the time I mentioned it is wearing off or has worn off. Have any of you with children on Concerta noticed this?

Paul never had the rebound with concerta but it makes sense in what you are saying. Take Cami's advice and leave her alone ;D ;D ;D Poor kid....she knows what is going on

Then look ahead and think to myself....why don't I just keep my mouth shut? ;D ;D I just so VERY much wish she could grow some tougher skin and let the problems with these so-called friends and the stabs from stupid kids picking roll off her back!

Brooke is also on 54mg of Concerta. She has always been very flat emotionally when the meds are in her system but it does help with her attention. She has not shown any rebound issues thankfully, just appetite. She is totally off the wall and whacked out when we miss a day though.

WE just got CONCERTA for my DD, the doc said it has a low effect after 6 hours and needs to be redosed in the afternoon to help ease them through the afternoons. They give a smaller dose for the afternoons since one of the side effects is lack of sleep, this way it lulls out by bedtime and they are able to relax and get some sleep.
GOOD LUCK

Sam has never had any rebounds with Concerta but he sure DID with regular ritalin!! However, I understand that rebounds can certainly occur with Concerta and last for around 45 minutes - 1 hour? Would that be about right from what you are seeing Christy? ... Unfortunately it sounds like the rebound is hitting JUST when she is with you!! Now THAT is bad timing ... (For YOU!!)

It seems to me that someone..maybe Camismom ..posted a thingy on concerta and how it released and worked in the system .. in the past ...I think it was the timed release kind.

m/c....the concerta is released with a big dose in the beginning...then the rest is slowly released throughout the day.
