I'm researching this med. Can anyone tell me if they've had success? side effects? bad results? good results? dosing? The usual questions.

MY DD has been on Abilify for over a year now and I LOVE THE STUFF >. She has NO side effects from it, nor any reactions. It has helped her calm down MASSIVELY and also helped with her OCD. its my WONDER drug for her. GO GET SOME>. ;D She take one tiny pill in the AM and PM.. they are only 10 mg each and they are a godsend for us.

BlueOreo, Thanks for the info. We've been on 5mgs, but just changed to 2.5am and 2.5pm. Seems much better now, but I'm sure we'll need to up a bit. I hated it the first few days and my son was grumpier than without anything. I thinks it was because of no risperdal and not enough abilify. We're still working on it.
Did/Does you daughter get sleepy? The only thing I can tell so far is he sleeps longer and harder. Sleep was never an issue, however I like the extra hour of quiet on the weekends.LOL

My son has been on it for just over a year now, and so far ALL IS GOOD!!!!! He had been on risperdal at first but had Major weight gain, and thus developed type II diabetes. With the abilify his mood swings have greatly improved, and the weight is now going down. The only problem with this med is the cost, our insurance will not cover it for bipolar under 18 years of age. However, Bristol Myers has a program for people to get it FREE!!! You just need to verify your income and have the doctor order it.

Blue Oreo & Burquie, do your children take any stimulants with the Abilify? How old is your DD Blue Oreo? My son is taking 5 mgs. Abilify and 72 mgs. Concerta in the a.m. He has coverage until about 7:00 p.m. and then has a little rebound. He is 9 1/2
Thanks!

HOPEFUL.. the reason your son is sleepy is from the Risperdal , it helps calm and relax. My DD takes it at bedtime to help her relax and get sleepy , what dose is he on, this could be another factor, maybe to high. My DD Is on 3mg for bedtime only. She was a walking zombie when she had it in the mornings and would snooze in class. GOOD LUCK

ZACH's MOM
My DD is on Concerta now, was Strattara, 27mg in AM and same at dinnertime. She is only on 20 mg of Abilify, which is in 10mg doses for AM/PM times. My DD is 11 and hormonally challenged right now ;D . So the dose is low for the changes going on, but it still works for her.
