My daughter is currently on Concerta, she is still getting stomaches and such, plus my insurance does not cover much of it, I still pay 80 a month for this. We go back to the dr tomorrow and I am thinking of asking to switch meds, what in your opinion is cheaper and actually works. thanks

I don't know what else might work for her, and I have an insurance plan that covers the medications really well.
BUT... if she is still feeling ill taking the concerta, I would ask for a change. You might want to call and talk to your pharmacist in advance, and see if he/she can recommend a few good medications that would be approrpiate based on both your financial responsibility (co-pay) and her diagnosis. Then, when you go to the doctor, you can discuss it with a few viable options (hopefully).
I hope you find the right choice soon!

jburke ... how long has your daughter been on Concerta? Although I would expect some stomach aches to start with I would also expect these to completely disappear within a month or two ... If your daughter has been on Concerta longer than this and is still getting stomach aches then it definitely sounds like this is not the med for her ... Unfortunately when the side-effects consistently outweigh any benefits then there is little point in continuing with that medication.
However, if it is "early days" and she hasn't been taking it for very long then you should maybe persist a little longer...

When my sd was taking concerta (actually everything we have tried thus far) we make sure she gets a good breakfast before the medication... This seems to "cut down" (not eliminate 100%) on the stomach aches... I agree with anne also if you are in the early days, then it may be a temporary side effect... If it has been a while, it may be time to check other medications... Can you call your insurance co. and see what medications they cover reasonable well? Then ask the dr which one might be right for your daughter... Just a thought... I know the first few months of the year are expensive for us, prescription wise... We have a deductible, and the adderall xr costs ALOT, but after a few months we have hit the deductible, then it is only 8.00 after that a month...
