mom2dylan .. Ritalin should (as a "rule of thumb") calm Dylan down rather than make him hyper ... Is this something you are seeing "often" or was this a one-off? If you are seeing it "often" it makes me wonder one of two things: 1. Ritalin is not working for Dylan and you need to maybe look at alternatives OR 2. Could it be that the dosage is too low ?

Dylan is always hyper but today seemed more than usual along with his mouthiness! i am going crazy today!

The only way that Ritalin can cause you to be hyper is if you AREN"T ADHD. He is probably not getting enough. What is his dosage? Look into it and try an increase if possible. Also, as far as today, just keep in mind that our kids just like us have good days AND bad. Maybe he got it all out today and will be calmer tomorrow. lol I'll be hoping for you!

hi mom2dylan, stimulants made my ds more hyper also, he is not able to take them. you may want to discuss this possibility with the dr also. i think one day may be a little soon to come to a definitive decision, but see what the dr says. good luck!

How many days of him being hyper would be a good time to call pedi... I just gave him this mornings dose about 5 min. ago

tracy, i'd call the dr too. it could be too small a dosage or the wrong medicine. it's truly trial and error to find the right, dose, medicine and time to give it for our kids. every kid is different. good luck. karen
