Hello -
Diagnosed with ADD at 16 and took Ritalin and had results. Went off it in College and recently went back to medication to treat the ADD. I am now 28. He put me on Concerta which seemed great at first, but now I am tired 24-7 even if I get enough sleep.
I have been reading up on Adderall and it sounds like I could give that a shot. Has anyone gone from Concerta to Adderall, and if so - did you notice any differences?
Thanks!

Hi Merleebird and welcome! Concerta vs Adderall is a hot topic! ... BUT not to forget that they are BOTH members of the same stimulant family!! ... If you look through some of the past postings you will see that some say adderall suits them better and others Concerta ... so quite honestly I don't think there is an "easy" answer here !! ... I wish there was .. !! It is too "individual" and what suits one best is not so good for another ... etc. ... I personally srongly suggest you should give BOTH a fair trial and THEN you will know which suits you best ... How long have you been back on the Concerta? WELCOME ABOARD !!

My sd went from concerta to adderall xr... Concerta made her very very obsessive, like scary obsessive!! Aderall is much better for *her*... I stress the her because anne is right, it is just to dang individualized for one medication to work the same on anyone, which of course makes it sooooo much harder!! We are now looking into getting sd off the adderall, as the canadian market recalling it has made us nervous, AND it just isnt working as well anymore since sd has been on it for 2 years now... Good luck in finding the right medication for you! cat

welcome merleebird! my dd, who is almost 20, used to take ritalin, then concerta and now adderall xr. ritalin worked the best by far. i've seen no difference in her on adderall xr but it may be the dose. i think it's 15 mg. i'm not sure what the goal is supposed to be. she had to cancel her dr. appt and hasn't made a new one. sure wish she'd get on with it tho. she needs help and isn't taking the adderall because she sees no difference so sees no need to go back to the dr. but i have to agree, it's so individual that you won't know what works for you until you try it. good luck finding the right one. karen

concerta didnt do much for me, my doctor put me on it so i wouldnt have to take doses during the day of the ritalin, so she put me back on ritalin, but about 4 months ago i started getting dizzy and it got really bad did a bunch of tests diudnt find anything out so i stopped taking my medicine and it went away, started taking it again and the dizzyness came back. so... she put me on adderall xr, it dosent work as well as the ritalin did, it helps with the passage of time but not with concentration. its really starting to bother me, cause i will lose focus in the middle of a news cast, ill be reading the news then all of a sudden i'll be thinkinga bout what i have to work on later that day or when i get home or just daydreaming, i'll still be fine reading the news and you cant tell i am gone, but i am worried that one day ill stop or start talking about what i am thinking about on the air. so if i were you i would try them both and use what ever works best like anne said. i might get my dossage upped and see if that helps or maybe just look and see what else is available. i can say this though, i will not try any medication that takes two weeks or a month to have full effect. i have tried a couple of those and when they didnt work and i had to come off of them, the withdrawls were awefull i mean really bad and lasted about a month. good luck
