Does anyone have a child on Seroquel? My oldest has been on it for 3 1/2 weeks. So far I'm not sure it's doing much for her (other than helping her sleep). I'm curious what experiences anyone can share.
Thanks!

hi savvymom, sorry i dont have experience w/ seroquel, but my ds9 is on risperdal, a similar med. it has been very successful in curbing his aggression. i think i saw improvement fairly quickly. sorry i cant remember exactly how long, as its been 4 yrs. maybe you can call the dr to see what to expect. is your dd being given the seroquel for aggression?

Yes, she has recently been diagnosed as bipolar and the mood swings have progressed a lot this last few weeks. I think she is "rapid cycling" as they say.
She was on abilify for a few weeks with so many side effects so they changed her to seroquel. She sleeps a lot better but the mood swings are still there after 3 1/2 weeks. I know these things take time--but I don't like these aggressive spells!

MY SON WAS ON IT FOR HIS AGGRESSION FOR ONLY A FEW DAYS AND HE HAD MOVEMENT OF THE MOUTH SO BAD THAT HE GOT LOTS OF SORES. SAME WITH GEODON. TRILEPTAL CAUSED AN INCREASE IN HIS TICS. WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF MEDS FOR MY SONS AGGRESSION. HE IS JUST SO SENSATIVE TO MEDS. I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT THE TRILEPTAL HELPED HIM ALOT THOUGH. I WISH HE COULD TAKE IT.

yes, savvymom, the aggressive spells are really hard to take. my ds9 had some really severe rage and aggression. risperdal has been like a miracle in curbing that (knock wood!). have you told the dr that after 3 weeks, your dd has had no improvement w/ the seroquel? maybe he/she will either increase the dosage or consider risperdal. good luck and bluebird, to you too, i know very well how hard it is. i am keeping fingers and toes firmly crossed for you and your ds.

Thanks Amsmom and Bluebird. Yes we have increased the dose slightly, but the doctor wants to up it slowly because my dd is sooo sensitive to medicines. She has reactions to everything, even her asthma medicine.
We've had several good days lately, but then the aggression strikes and it can be scary!
Thanks for your kind words of support.
