MY SON DEVELOPED A RASH ON HIS CHEST TODAY. THE DR. HAD ME TRY DEPAKOTE SUNDAY. I GAVE HIM ONLY 1 DOSE IN THE MORN AND BY AFTERNOON WE NOTICED MORE TIC MOVEMENT IN HIS HANDS. DR. DECIDED WE SHOULD STOP THE DEPAKOTE AND LET HIS BODY BE CLEARED FROM ANY MEDS FOR 2 WEEKS. THEN WE ARE GOING TO TRY AND FIND A MED WITH THE FEWEST SIDE EFFECTS BECAUSE HE IS SO SENSITIVE TO MEDS. COULD THIS RASH BE A SIDE EFFECT FROM THE DOSE OF DEPAKOTE THAT WE GAVE HIM? IT LOOKS LIKE LITTLE RED DOTS ACROSS HIS CHEST.

Some little kids get a red rash on their chest just before the onset of strep. My sisters kids did when they were little and still do.

Have you called his doctor? Kids get rashes for a variety of reasons...but to me it doesn't sound too serious...but then again I am not a Doc.

I DIDN'T CALL. I HATE TO CALL BECAUSE LIKE YOU SAID KIDS GET RASHES ALL THE TIME. I PUT SOME HYDROCORTISONE CREAM ON IT. IF IT DOESN'T GET BETTER I WILL CALL.

I used to get rashes every time I got near fruit...still do but now its hives. Could be anything but I agree with Linda the safe thing to do would be call the Dr if it doesn't go away.
