We're tyring a new med combo.. I know a couple of people have tried these two together, just wondering what the results have been,, we took Brock off concerta last year and tried Straterra by itself that didn't work. He's getting such poor grades in school because he's not paying attention or fidgiting aroung w/something. I think his body is used to the 54mg, with his low weight (12y/o 60lbs) upping the dose is not an option. Anyway he's taking the straterra at night I guess to get his body used to it. The end result is to bring down the concerta dose and raise the straterra dose, and try to find the happy medium that can help him concentrate. If I remember right from other postings Straterra doesn't help much w/ the hyperness does it help w/ concentration??? Isn't dad2brooke the "resident expert" about mixing these two meds together to work? Are you out there??

millermom.proboards23.com/index.cgi#generalMillermom used to be the resident pro on all things to do with meds... She branched out on her own when we lost our old web site... but check out her place... chances are really good that you can find the answers to med dosing and combining on her site. I haven't looked over there in months because my DS doesn't tolerate meds at all.

I am interested in this thread. DS has an appt with the peds neurologist next Friday 12/10 and I am about to ask him for a med or an increase in his Strattera dose to get us through the homework time in the evenings. It's really weird, though - it's not every night that we have a problem, but some nights it's just awful trying to get him to settle down to do the work and stay focused enough to finish it. It's not that there's that much to do - maybe 1/2 hour nightly if he'd really apply himself. But some nights we spend an hour just arguing about getting him to open the agenda and get out the worksheets! The doc recommended a short-acting med to be given after school that would wear off in 3 hrs. I doubt its effects will wear off that fast, though, and some nights I don't get to pick him up until after 5 p.m. His bedtime is 8:30 p.m. and I can see us going through the insomnia routine again - that's almost as bad as the struggle with homework! Has anyone used a short-acting stimulant late in the day with success? Ds is on 40 mg Strattera in the a.m. after breakfast (around 8). It seems to get him through the school day ok (until 3:30). Then he goes to after care and I'm actually wondering if all the ruckus there is overstimulating him so he's wound up when he comes home? I know my dd 6 is exhausted! Kris
