Hi, I can't believe I am going to do this but our dr. has suggested we try stimulants again after not using them for three yr. because they always agitated my son. He thinks maybe his brain is different now. Any experiences with the drug? Did it wear off too soon and cause anger? What did you do about sleep?

My sd 8 is on adderall xr 30 mg... Yes sleep can and is an issue sometimes, the weird thing is she actually seems to function better on less sleep...
Another way to conquer that is allow lots of outside rough play time.... At one point my sd was on a very small dose of clonodine, and it really helped the sleep issues...
It does wear off by the time sd gets home from school, but I havent seen anger issues because of that, just get a wild child...
I hope it helps your son! And I hope I helped a little...

lisle, I noticed something that I wouldn't have thought of but it may be a consideration for you.
My boy (twin #2) is taking Zoloft. It has been a week and I noticed that the med is working like I would expect a stimulant to work. He seems to have more focused energy without being hyper. He has positive thinking and is very much in control. It's amazing. I gave him 25mg and it was too much. It was like he was on speed. So, I cut the dose in half and it's working very well now.
My point is, maybe you would want to ask your doctor about giving a small dose of this and see how it works before you try the stim? One more thing, there are no meltdowns and his appitite is very good!
