Here we go again....
We had added Risperdal to my ds7 repertoire of medication in mid-July. What a difference! He was never really "aggressive" in the manner many of you speak, but he would raise his fist (rarely try and hit), and get mad very easily. More like melt downs. He's never hit or been abusive at school. I just wrote his teacher, and she said although he's very energetic, he's had no behavior issues at all.
He's been very pleasent, or really irritated since school started. Nothing even tempered here! He seems really tired after school, so we've let him take naps if he falls asleep (yet he's still able to sleep at the regular time).
He's almost militant with his likes (friends and Bionicles/Legos) and hates (junk food, girls, kids that tease him, baseball, soccer).
Does this mean I need to kick back and wait, or another med change? It's like a get a few weeks, or even a few months where it feels like we're right on the mark, then, it feels all out of balance again.
His diet is excellent, making it hard for me to sneak any yummie treats for myself lol. I just don't know what my next course of action should be! His adhd is only really appearent when he's around people or situations he's not familiar with and that's understandable. I just don't know where to go? I would rush him down to the Amen Clinic, but in the few times we've tried to drop imipramine, it's been horrible. He gets really depressed without it, even when we drop it down extremely slow. I don't think I could put him through that again, even for something like the Amen clinic.
