I guess you're talking about those unpleasant "male side effects" I take Strat, and can say that it works very well once you give it some time. It has to build up in your system and usually takes about 6 weeks or so to reach it's full effectiveness. For me, and I'm a female, the annoying side effects were tiredness, which took about three months to go away, and dizziness, which took two months to go away. I have heard that the side effects that males have experienced include, and I hope I don't offend anyone by listing them, so if you think you WILL be stop reading now...problems urinating, semen leakage, and ED. I HAVE heard that these USUALLY go away in time. A friend of mine tried Strat, and only experienced these side effects for about a week. If you don't feel like you can "wait it out", did your doctor think that stimulants were a bad choice? I noticed from previous posts that you were taking anti depressants. Did he decide to go with Strat because it has anti-d compenents? All I can say is, sorry you're having problems, but hopefully they WILL go away quickly! I feel for you

no ididnt have those side effects i did have pain after intercoarse which although was very painful went away, i couldhandle that. it was the not sleeping for two days and on the second day i was laying in bed and my daughter has this big stuffed bear like 4 feet tall i looked at it and it starte flexing its muscles and twisting its arm. i would call it a halucination. and a lot of other disturbing and somewhat relate things happened to. i stoped takeing it.i have anappointment with my regular doctor tommorrow, i am going to ask if she in concerrt with my therapist treet me from now on. the doc that made me take the strattera was rude and insulted my intellegence during my last meeting with her. i am not stupid, not even close, and i refuse to be talked down to and treeted like a child. i told her that i did not want totake a third anti deppressent, and that i was worried aboutthe side effects of strattera. she got made at me and said she was not going to prescribe me psycho stimulents. fine and dandy with me, i asked her if i could be taken off some of the meds i was on she told me no i had to take them.so... we shall see what happens. i dont like taking medicine anyway, and the last three days has confermed the reasons why. if i have to continue dealing with this on my own without the help of medication so be it, i'll suffer through it. arrrgh.. sorry venting... ireally hate it when someone thinks they are smarter than me and tell me that because ofmy condition i cant make rational decisions about my health....ok done thanks

Daniel ... vent away ... we all do sometimes ... and this is a great place to do it !! I am sorry to hear you are having a bad time with Strattera ... and I can fully understand you being anti-strattera if you have suffered alarming side-effects such as hallucinations... I also can't help wondering about having to continue with antidepressants whilst on Strattera because I had always understood strattera to contain an antidepressant and I thought that varying antidepressants should never be mixed! ... but I am no Doctor ... so chances are there is a reasonable medical explanation ... and I can't see it! I cannot help wondering whether you would benefit better from a completely fresh start with a completley new doctor ... Is that a possibility?

Daniel,
I strongly believe that if a doctor treats you like your opinion doesn't matter, and isn't willing to take your feelings into account, that it's time to move on to the next doctor until you find one who is willing to work with you as a team. You are an adult and no doctor can tell you what to do. Their job is to work with you and find a treatment that works best for you and not be close minded.
I sort of forgot about this, but when I first started Strattera, I couldn't sleep for two nights either, but I kept taking it, and on the third night I took some Melatonin, and slept like a baby, and have ever since. It's probably not the greatest thing to be having hallucinations. What anti depressants do you take? I know that on the warnings area on the insert. it says that Strattera should not be taken with any MAOI inhibitors.
I hope you can find a good doctor who can get you straightned out and on the right combo of meds or other treatments. Having a pompous doctor who isn't willing to listen really stinks! Good luck to you...
