Thank you everyone for your support!!
My doctor won't authorize another test this soon and tells me to just wait. He doesn't realize it or maybe doesn't care that I'm a nervous reck. So, I will wait for the bomb to go off as fire boy explodes as his old non medicated self. I am going to try some natural alternatives that enhance GABA to see if that helps lessen the impact of all this. Who knows this may be a blessing in disguise if I can substitute a natural alternative. I've been reading a lot and learning about some of the different amino acids that could be helpful. Can you imagine, no side effects?? I can dream can't I?

Ohmama, There is a person on schwab named "Jisp" who has a Bipolar son. She has been through the medication route etc with horrible results, and has finally found a natural alternative way "UNDER a Doctor's care" that has helped her son. I am not sure how I feel about the treatment she was talking about because it is via Truehope which has been banned in Canada. Although quite a few people in Canada who were being helped by this Alternative has protested and are still able to get it via the U.S. The only reason I am telling you this is because I know you will research and make sure that the supplements are OK and you are pretty knowledgeable about these things. So if you are interested I suggest you post over at www.schwablearning.org forum board and have a chat with Jisp. But know that her child is being managed thru' a doctor using this therapy.

Has your son been ill lately, or vacinated for Hepititis A? These things could affect the liver function tests.

Mayleng, Thank you!! I have never heard of Truehope but I will investigate it. With all the research I have done I think I know how to spot a gimmick and would not put any blind faith in a treatment that had no evidence or possibility of working, with or without a doctor. It's worth looking into if nothing else just to see what it's all about!
Texasmom, My boy is very healthy and hasn't even had a cold in a long time. He never gets sick. He doesn't even get vacinations so I'm pretty sure its a reaction to the Depakote. If this is the case the liver test will come back normal next time. I hope the Depakote didn't cause any lasting damage.

I knew you would do the research and felt it was worth mentioning to you since you know about supplements etc. I am praying that Depakote did not do any damage to the liver too.

Hi OhMama, First time on in many months and then saw your mail. I really feel for you but the liver also has allot of healing power. Know quite allot about livers as my husband had Hep C until he kicked it with supplements and Inteferon. The best herbal for the liver is Milk Thistle, get him on it right away to detoxify the liver. Believe it is available in drops if he has a problem with pills. It has no side effects or interactions. You may also find a liver detox formula just make sure it has a high percentage of Milk Thistle. Hang in there and don't panic, liver function tests can also vary so I would advise having it done again. Big hug to you.

Oh Mama I am just reading through this and am soooo sorry to read what I am reading ! ... although these problems can be listed on medications as "in rare cases" it sure doesnt "feel" rare when it is happening to your own son I am quite sure!! ...
The advice here though is excellent ... I can't add to the advice so instead I am going to send you a big {{{{hug}}}} and hope that this is clarified very soon and that if Depakote IS to blame that a safer alternative can be found asap.
GOOD LUCK...

What can I say? You are all so wonderful!! Thank you isn't enough. I'm sending hugs back to you all.
Ross, Thank you for the suggestion on the liver detox. You are right. When I'm under stress I can't think and just spaced it.
I'll be seeing the ped. on Thursday. Can't get in to see the psych. till November!! It's a new doctor (the psychiatrist) and I'm very excited that I won't be dealing with the old one any more who never listened to me anyway.
