Hey!! I could have told them this if they had only asked! ;D ;D
Seriously though this is interesting and confirms a lot of what I have certainly found with Sam ... who in fact has only been on stimulants during his teenage years... Once ritalin was introduced Sam settled into school in a way I would never ever have thought previously possible... he is also 'expected' to get results in his major exams (they are due out next week) which are better than we had ever dreamed possible in previous years! I thank Ritalin for a huge amount of that "turning around" ... not all of it ... but a lot of it! ...
This is very interesting!!

What I would be interested in is why some teens do not need the stims anymore and why some do.
Like Anne..I could have told them a thing or 2.

Yes a good point Linda !! ... and I also wonder HOW you can tell whether your teen is ready to function without the stimulants other than of course "trying it out" ...
Sam right now is not taking his Concerta every day ... he is taking it "some" of the time ... and to be honest it seems to make NO DIFFERENCE whatsoever right now ... BUT he is in a working environment right now and NOT an academic/classroom environment ... Once he goes back into the confinements of a classroom in September I feel he will need it once again ... but then again how do I actually KNOW that !!? ... Truth is I don't! ... Maybe we should "try it out" ...
I think I have answered my own question! It is probably time for Sam to try without the Concerta for a bit ... but I have to be honest I am actually frightened of stopping it in case he reverts back to how he was in the classroom at 13 years old!! ... Once bitten... twice shy! ...
