Ds is now back on his meds and is a much happier little boy.... I took him off hoping to get a few pounds on him but it only lasted 2 weeks... the doctor agrees that its not worth him being unhappy he was always in trouble and always alone no one wanted to play with him. he just could'nt stay put for anything even gamecube with was a good thing in a way but still he was so ressless and getting depressed... I do have to find a way to put some meat on him he is getting so thin... he is the weight he was at 7 (47 lbs) and not he is 9yo my 21/2 yo is about to outweight him, he is a wooping 32 pounds

If I may suggest a few things that have worked for us. My DS (8 yrs - 45lbs) at his last appointment in May was underweight. His doctor was very concerned. She was happy that the Concerta was working well for him, but she said that we needed to concentrate on him gaining some weight.
This is what she suggested for adding weight. Pack on the fat calories at breakfast (before medication) and dinner.
1. Breakfast - Don't just eat cereal, add protein like bacon, sausage, milk, butter, etc. Add carnation breakfast drink to meal, if needed. Pack as many calories as you can.
2. Dinner - serve 2 meals. One at around 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Then add a second meal around 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Again add lots of fat calories to the meal. My sons loves hamburgers. So after school I may stopped and get him a hamburger. He is usually hungry because he hardly eats much of his lunch because of the meds. Then around 7:30 pm I prepare a small meal for him to munch on. By that time, the meds have worn off somewhat and the hunger begins.
After implementing this for a couple of months...I have noticed that he has put on a few pounds. I think he weights around 51 lbs now.

your son sounds exatly like mine I think he hit the 50 lb mark around 9 and now at 11 1/2 he's only 60lbs. I used to worry and fret about his weight. But then I just gave up worring. He's healthy and full of energy and no health issues, so he's just gonna be a skinny kid until he gets older his body fills out. The only pain is trying to find pants that fit, he fits into size 12 and alot of cinching w/ a belt We're in the same boat, we just have to wait. sorry about the med vacation not working. I tired it when ds was about that age and it didn't work either, but this summer its working out well .I think maturity play a role in that as well. If you still have concerns, keep trying every summer.
