Ds has always had problems with motor tics, they were under control for awhile, when he was on abilify & prozac, but then they started to return, not in full force but noticeable. Pdoc suggested we up the dose of the abilify from 10 to 15mg, well right at the same time we added the ritalin la, the tics are getting worse blinking his eyes constantly. So I'm not sure if this is because they were coming back anways & the abilify hasn't had a chance to kick in yet at a higher dose, or is the ritalin la is making it worse??? Another question is if the ritalin is making it worse shouldn't it stop when the ritalin is out of his system usually in about 7hrs?? The eye blinking is still coming on til bedtime, not really letting up at all, so maybe it isn't making it worse, it was just getting worse anyways, make sense?? Thanks in advance

My DD developed tics from concerta and it took a few days for them to go away after we stopped it.Now she's on adderall xr and the tics are returning.I think we'll have to stop stimulants and try something else.Good luck!

My ds exhibited different kinds of tics on stimulants and on Wellbutrin. I can't be sure in your case, but in ours it was those particular meds. Like with Brenda's dd, my ds's tics continued for a few days after discontinuing them. These med trials are such a nightmare, but you will get there. My ds's psychiatrist never changes more than one med at a time, in case there is a problem, you can identify which med is the culprit.

Thank-you girls, I am just about to the point of driving myself crazy with this. It just breaks my heart to see him blinking his eyes so much, they look all red & blury And of course I was just starting to think the ritalin was having some positive effects on him & now this. I guess I will give it a couple more days, and see. I just sit at work all day & worry about him being at Summer Camp and someone making fun of him. I just want to snap my fingers & make all this go away. Atleast I know I am not alone
