My daughter developed tics when she was on Concerta. They were obvious tics like neck jerking, blinking, etc. Now she is on Adderall xr and doing some things that I think could be tics. She is constantly pulling at her panties(at least 10 times in a minute).I noticed she does it more when she is nervous.Other people have noticed her doing it and I'm afraid kids will laugh at her when school starts back. She also smells her hands, chews everything, and rubs her hair down. Are these tics?

They do sound like tics or obessive compulsive tics/behaviors brought out by meds. My ds had a variety of tics on different meds. When the meds were stopped the tics stopped. In one case when he was on Wellbutrin, he had the jerking movement tics you described. The dr said he had never heard of that with Wellbutrin, but thankfully, when we stopped the Wellbutrin, the jerking stopped. The tics would change periodically, he did hand-licking, sniffing sounds, deep over-exaggerated, dramatic breaths, rubbing his feet on the ground and others. I think calling the dr would be your best best. Good luck honey, I know you try so hard. You are a great mom

Hi, I'm no expert but these sound like tics to me too. My daughters each have similar tics. The oldest constantly picks at scabs and acne places. It takes forever for these spots to heal because she won't leave them alone. Yikes!
My youngest often picks and pulls at her cuticles on all of her fingers. I constantly remind both of them to stop to no avail. They have done this on other stim meds as well. Ask your doctor if he has any thoughts or ideas of what to do. Good luck!
