Jake has been complaining of stomach aches for sometime but it is getting worse. He has a history of constipation problems but that is not the problem here. I keep a pretty close eye on that. I see that Concerta may cause stomach pain. Anyone have problems with this? We are seeing his psych on Thursday about this problem before we refill meds. Thanx for any imput, Sue

Thanx Cat, He takes it with his breakfast and he eats GOOD. the concerta never decreased his appitite and he has gained weight while on this ;D and is at a normal weight! He starts complaining when he gets up in the morning and at bedtime. I have been struggling on whether this is behavioral but afer all this time he should have forgotten or just let it go. He insists that his stomach really does hurt. During the day though while at school there is no problem. Our kids can be soooo confusing!

It sounds to me that it might be nerves that are bringing on the stomach aches, not the concerta. My son complains that he has a stomach ache sometimes before school ,but he is able to recognize that it is nerves and by the time he is busy at school the stomach aches go away, just something to think about!!Good- luck!!!!

My son had a heachache and stomach ache an hour after taking concerta. This only happened when he started it on Monday am after having a med free weekend. After trying concerta for 2 weeks (and my son having a heachache the first day of every week) we went back to regular Ritalin and eventually Metadate CD. We are guessing that the delivery system upset my son's system, as he does fine on methylphenidate.
