is anyone taking the maximum dosage of Strattera for your range?
We started our dd9 on 10 additional mgs. tonight to go along with 35 she gets in the a.m. and the 10 she gets at 4 p.m., at her doctor's recommendation. I'm kind of worried about this. It seems high to me. Anyone doing this and doing OK? Anyone tried this and it proved to be too much?

What does your DD weigh? Strattera is entirely weight dependent.
Most peds start you off around 1.2mg per 2.2lbs of body weight. But the formula can go as high as 1.8mgs per 2.2lbs.
Brooke weighs 65 lbs and takes 40mg.
65 / 2.2 = 29.545454545 * 1.2 = 35.45454545
By that formula Brooke should take about 35mg. She is on 40 and doing great. Which breaks out to 1.35 mg per 2.2lb.
I have heard of split dose, at night and in the morning but I haven't yet read about 3 doses through out the day.
Strattera is not like a stim in that it wears off in a number of hours. It stays in your system for 24 or more, so the level of medicine is constant in your system.

My son weighs about 56 lbs and has been taking 40 mg daily. He's doing fine (it's been a year now), and we're really pleased. We haven't had to adjust the dose or add anything else.
Good luck.

I so envy you.....I we tried strattera and it didn't work , Brock was way to fidgety in school on it.. so we're back to concerta, which wirks good but it just seems a non-stimulant would be a better route considering the amount of time in thier life they will using some type of meds

Dad2B -
She weighs 69 lbs, so 55 mg. is her max. She's been on the maximum dosage now for 2 days and it's been GOOD, I'm happy to report, so far. It seems to have evened out her moods so that nothing is a big deal to her, which is sooooo nice. It has made her more aware of what's going on around her. So far, so good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though.

swmom, good for you and for her.
I have been thinking about asking the doctor to bump her to 45mg of Strattera, because I am seeing a little moodiness since reintroducing the Concerta 18 mg. I'd consider dropping the stim, but she is doing so much better in school.
Gonna have to ask the pediatrician about this soon.

Dad2B-
I was so afraid to up the Strattera because I thought it was working pretty well, compared to the trouble we had on stimulants. Well! If the doctor hadn't said go up 10 mgs, I never would have tried it. I'm so glad we did(at the moment anyway).

Katie weighs 98 pounds and takes 60 mg in the morning only. She's been at that dose for about three months I think. So far, so good!

I'm going to start Steph on 40 mg tomorrow. She has been taking 25 mg and it is not helping. She weighs 49 pounds so 40 mg is her max.I called and asked for 10 mg so I could give her 10 +25 for a total of 35 so I could split the dose if I need to.Why don't doctors listen. He said 40 mg should be alright.I might wait and start saturday so I can watch for side effects.
