Hello everyone...Havent been here in a long time but as soon as I have a question I came running back as fast as I could. My 9 yo adhd son has been on strat 40 for about 6 months. He has done very well on it. Our doctor uses his sucess for other patients. He weighs 63.5 pounds so should still be in target dose? He is starting his thing again...that thing is yelling, just making loud noises ALL of the time. He doesnt seem to realize that he is doing it until I have told him to stop 3 or 4 times. He does not do it at school. He is also not behaving as well. Not think through his actions and doesn't seem to care about the consquences. I am at a loss. Stratt has been so good for him. He eats and sleeps on it. He has grown a lot and has been mush healthier since starting it. Is Stratt something that your body adjust to and then wont work? If anyone has any ideas what to do I would love to hear some advice. Jodi

Strat, just like any med, is something I feel you can eventually adjust to and the dose may need adjusting. BUT, this med is weight reliant, therefore you do not get any benefits going below or above target dose. Your son's safe range for dosing is between 35 and 50 mgs. (Take his weight divided by 2.2 and multiply that by 1.2 for lowest dose and 1.8 for highest.) If he is currently taking 40, he may benefit by a small increase of 5 mgs. If he is doing so well on it, my thoughts is that this will probably do it. This is a med that requires tweaking from time to time. Sometimes it can even "build up" in the system and the child can benefit from skipping a day. You really have to experiment and see. Keep an eye on his weight gain, because as it goes up, the dosage will need to as well. Hope this helped you some.
Good luck!

Great post camismom, you took the words right out of my mouth.
Jodi, since your son has been on it for 6 month a bump up might be in order.
I do believe that Strattera comes in 10, 18, 25, 40 and 60mg tablets so you may have to give him a 25 and 2 10's to do the 5mg bump. Let his docotr know what you have told us and see what he says.
Keep us posted.
