My son (8) used to take Focalin, but it lasted such a short period of time, that he didn't take it exclusively for long. Now he takes Ritilin LA twice a day and Focalin in the evening to get through homework, a bath, and to keep me from losing my mind. At the end of the day like this, it lasts about three hours...if I push it! However, my son's metabolism seems to eat up all these stims very quickly. Keep in mind, all children react differently with meds. I bet there are few children on here who have the same combination of anything! Give it a try...and cross your fingers!!

It last about 4 to 5 hrs.
My kids take 5mg. afterschool to help them get thru the rest of the evening.

It seems to be lasting long enough. She's had 2 good days in a row.I asked her teacher to let me know if she needs a noon dose and I haven't heard anything yet.Maybe it's because she's on strattera too.I'm going to keep her on both for a few weeks and try to stop the focalin. We are only 2 weeks into strattera so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can stop focalin after the strattera builds up.

Brenda, good luck!
Brooke is on Strattera and Concerta and doing well on the combo.
For her, Strattera helped significantly with the hyperactivity, but the Concerta helps her focus better in school.
Keep us posted.
