Hi...i just wanted to get others input... My 9 yr old son just started on Adderall xr 10mg today and he got home about an hour and a half ago and is asleep right now..he said it made him tired. He's taken it before about a year and half ago and i dont remember this side effect---he has been on concerta 54 mg since coming off adderall last time. He seemed to do pretty good on concerta and then all of a sudden it just stopped working--KIND OF...he was also on zoloft 50-75 mg. We went and got a second opinion from a new dr within the same group and she said that we were gunna wean him off the zoloft over the next week and start him on adderall 10mg this week, 20 next week, 30 3rd week and see how things are going. Im hoping this will be better for him--i remember when he came off ritalin and on to the adderall, he liked the adderall better but im kind of confused right now as i sit here and watch him sleep so soundly. Ive heard so many bad things or rather read them on here about adderall--i just wonder!

Although different mg sd 8 yr old went from concerta to adderall xr... Concerta was 18mg (had to go down from 36 sd was getting obsessive) that wasnt quite enough for sd... We switched to adderall xr 20 mg first, and now she is on 30 mg (actually 40 including afternoon dose)..
I am kind of surprised that 10 mg would wipe him out? Being he is used to higher dose... Did they do something "special" today at school? Tough weekend? Is there anything else that may have contributed to his exhaustion??
I would give it a few days before calling the dr, or takeing him off it... Let us know how it goes.. Good luck

I too would watch him. If it persists I would call your doctor.
Unfortunately, Brooke was only on Adderall a short time. It made her so irritable, that we welcomed the ADHD symptoms when she stopped taking it.
Keep us posted, and enjoy the peace and quiet.
