I ran a search on this med and didn't see anything positive. Has anyone had a good experience with the med?

hopeful, Brooke was on Metadate CD, and it was doing a good job, but (at least in her case) it caused a lot of tics. And it didn't take long before it stopped being effective at treating her ADHD but it stilled caused tics.
Sorry I don't have anything good to report. But medicines are like that, they do great for some and bad for others. And, of course, negative publicity travels farther than good.
If you are thinking about trying it, I would. It is a stim so it can be stopped literally overnight if you don't like the results.
Keep us posted.

My son is currently in 7th grade. He was on regular Ritalin from 3rd grade until 5th grade with good results. We switched to a longer lasting form of methylphenidate to avoid a lunch time dose at school. Unfortunately the delivery system in Concerta gave him upset stomach/headaches, so we tried Metadate CD. Unlike Concerta, the delivery system in Metadate CD works very well for him.
The Metadate CD lasts thru the school day for him. If he has lots of homework we give him a homework dose of Ritalin.
Remember, all kids react differently on different drugs. Also remember that people tend to post when they are having problems, which could be why you haven't found much about Metadate CD. I also think that particular drug isn't marketed very well, and people aren't too familiar with it.

Thanks for the info. I do realize we don't read about as many success stories as there really are out there. I would try it out this weekend but it's his birthday and we have 2 other birthday parties to. Next week he's off school so I will give it a try. It's funny how we begin to expect the worst rather than expect the best. It's a 50/50 shot either way.

hopeful,
DS(8) was on regular ritalin twice a day (wiht great success) until September when he started on Metadate CD. This worked really well - we had nothing but a good experience with it. Unfortunately our health insurance no longer covers it so we are trying Ritalin LA. The delivery system in this doesn't work well for DS - he is getting too much at once and not enough later. So we are off to a specialist to see what should be done.

Stephanie took Metadade Cd.The 10 mgs did nothing for her.On 20 mg she was super hyper.I think it was too much.Maybe 15 mg would have been right if they made that dose. She is on 18 mg of concerta and 1 mg of tenex now.

Hi, We tried the Meditate CD for about 3 months. It seemed to be working the FIRST month and not so much the 2nd month and the third month it was like she was taking nothing. It's a stim. as you know. Her body was getting use to it. NO tics being on it but she became withdrawn and not herself. She was distance or at least family members that hadn't seen her could tell the difference. There wasn't a gym BIG ENOUGH for her after 5pm when it was completely wore off!!!! REBOUND CITY! The worse thing was she just STOPPED eatting! Couldn't get her to eat a thing! Then I started getting regular calls again from the teacher complaining about her work again. Not staying on task, not completing it, blah. blah. blah... I said "Well, you were complaining before the meds and now she's on it and complaining again." It was like she needed the meds to be stronger but they needed to be much WEAKER in the other since. I was afraid of health problems with it and took her completely OFF. She spent the next 2 weeks solid EATTING! Gained like 10 lbs in two weeks. It's a health concern when they are losing weight like that. We are now doing vitamins. Seems to help. She's more LD with a little ADD.
take care...madison
