My daughter is 8, she's been on meds for three years and we've been doing pretty good once we found the right combination but recently, things havn't been going so well. She's having a very hard time focussing again; on everything! It took her a half hour to get her snow suit on after school yesterday, she's not able to follow simple instructions from the teacher or us, plus older symptoms are appearing again. Her excesive constant talking back, she's having more facial tics and her eyes seem to be so distant. I'm going to increase the meds by .5 mg today but she's almost at the top of the dose scale. Were on Clonodine because on ritalin her tics were of a self mutilation kind. I hope it doesn't take too long to get her back on track. Thankfully her teacher is patient and understanding.

I'm sorry you're going through this again. I really don't know anything about Clonodine, but I hope the extra mgs. makes a difference for the better. If the old symptoms are returning, it sure sounds like a bump is needed. I'm sending some good luck wishes your way...

Tammy, we are going through the same thing with our 7 yr old. He has been doing great untill around the 1st of the year. He also is on high doses of meds. I decided to try adding some natural alternative meds to his regime. We are continuing his regular meds, just adding this to them. I hope it works as I really don't want to up his stims any more than I have to. Good luck, Sue

Tammy - I am also sorry that things haven't been going too well (and same goes for you Jorgy)... sometimes it can feel like you are taking one step forward and two back eh?
I wish I could be more help on clonodine but I also am not familiar with this one ...

wasn't thinking straight, the clonodine helps with her agression and tics, it works to reduce her blood pressure. the stimulant she is on is Dexadrine. At one point she was overdosed because she had lost 30 lbs but we didn't adjust the meds right away. Her weight hasn't changed however she is showing signs of early puberty, I'm wondering if that could be a cause to some of the confusion of late.

Tammy; We are going thru the same thing with our 8yr. old. He is on th ehighest his Meds. can go and at hte first of the year he just started to spiral down. I wish I could be of more help. Maybe you could read more in the alternatives section. I did some reasearch there and they are very helpful with some dietary changes that can help take the edge off. I hope things get better and if I find anything that works for my son I will let you know. My thoughts are with you. Have a peaceful day, Christina
