If I'm not mistaken the conference on the dangers of giving children SSRIs(except Prozac) for depression begins today. It'll be very interesting to see the outcome, eh?

Prozac is helping Bean Sprout a whole lot. Lexapro helped Li'l Sprout a whole lot. Lexapro is one of the SSRIs they're thinking don't work on children. But dang, it sure worked on Li'l Sprout! Got him through a very tough time in school last year. Never seemed even the least bit suicidal. Now that's just one person's experience and maybe it's not anywhere near the average.
But I'm thankful Lexapro was there for Li'l Sprout. I'm even more thankful Prozac is there for Bean Sprout. He was going through hell and we didn't know how to tell it from normal teenage behavior until it got extreme. Most of all I'm thankful for their psychologist who told us with both sprouts that it was time to see a psychiatrist.

I am extremely interested in the outcome of these reviews. My 15 yr old has been on SSRI's for several years. First Luvox and now zoloft. I watch her like a hawk because she is on a very high dose for her OCD and mild depression. I have to say it has helped but we don't have alot of choices here and she needs to be medicated. I constantly read all this stuff (mostly the discussion has involved Paxil), second guessing myself and basically driving myself nuts in the process.
